Lo studio, nato sotto l’egida della Società Italiana di Gerontologia e Geriatria, si configura come multiscopo, multisetting e multicentrico, caratterizzato da un corpus informativo condiviso tra i vari setting ed elementi setting specifici. La raccolta dati è stata organizzata per via telematica mediante il supporto gratuito di Bluecompanion, che ha realizzato un registro elettronico il quale ha permesso la diretta immissione e archiviazione dei dati, in condizioni di assoluto anonimato e sicurezza, e la successiva elaborazione dei medesimi.

Dato l’importante numero di collaboratori che hanno lavorato e lavorano sul database GeroCovid Observational, il board di coordinamento ha deciso di creare un’organizzazione efficace per migliorare l’uso del database e la produttività scientifica dello studio, predisponendo un processo standardizzato per presentare, valutare e approvare le proposte scientifiche.
